I feel like I should say something about Boskone since I was there. So, I'll make this short and sweet.
The programming was good this year. There were multiple panels that I attended and found content rich. The best ones were the short story panels because the speakers did a great job of conveying their experience to the audience, which made the panels enriching. I also really enjoyed the panel on Richard Matheson. Due to the fact that I get lost every time I drive to the Convention Center, I missed the first 10 minutes of the panel, but it was still great. The audience was as well informed as the speaker, which made for a very engaging dialog. The television panels were just good fun.
The Literary Beers had a few issues since the bar wasn't prepared (or even open) for this type of thing. The restaurant didn't want us in there either. So, we got put in a room on the Mez level and I don't think people were able to find the new location because it wasn't marked.
The con suite was well stocked with goodies to eat and drink. Yet again, Viable Paradise did a great job of feeding the crowd and getting the VP message out there. I was really glad to see my VPX buddies Jen, John and Bart, and I wish we'd had more time to hang out. But since I was a 9-5er at the con, I wasn't around much.
It was really nice to catch up with Debra D, Jim K, and Kelly Link (even though she wasn't a VPer). I think I spent most of my time at panels rather than socializing, so I feel kind of like a bad socializer. Well, maybe I'll do a little more hanging out with people at Readercon, which should be a lot of fun!
Ok, that's it for now. What a sad little con report.
Addition:
There was also a good panel on utopias. I'm so glad that I attended that one because it gave me some great ideas (and don't dos) for my novel.
